State of the ARC, 18-Feb-19

State of the ARC, created by Evelina @ Avalina’s Books, is a monthly meme where you share your ARC progress, challenges, wins, woes, and mishaps. You can also join the Goodreads group ARCs Anonymous!

Welcome to February’s State of the ARC! Last year, the only ARCs I had my hands on were the ‘Read Now’ selections on NetGalley. By the end of November, I started to go on a requesting spree across different platforms thinking I would simply be denied… and of course to my complete suprise and delight, a handful of approvals unexpectedly stormed through! Whoops!! While I’m super excited to have been approved, I’ve been stressing out ever since. I decided to join this meme as I need to organize and track my ARC-life! So far, just putting together this post has tremendously helped my stress level! (All stats below are YTD since I didn’t start the meme in January.)

I know that feeling, expecting to be rejected and then suddenly getting approved for a bunch of stuff! I have recently gotten back into using NetGalley and feel exactly the same way. A little overwhelming at first, since I want to do a good job for them (so they’ll give me more!!). You’ve got a lot of really good ones! Hope you enjoy them!

Thank you!! I try really hard to only request/accept books I know I have the potential to like, so I’m really looking forward to them! Sometimes that request button is a little too easy to push and then I don’t pay attention to the pub dates! 😂 At least Edelweiss has you sit down and write a “why” blurb so it helps you think about if you really want it or not.

I only have three ARCs, six self pub requests and then a few unsolicited ARCs/published copies and I am so stressed, I don’t know how everyone else deals with having so many haha.

I know right?! My entire list is what some people get in a week and I’m over here sweating bullets!! 😂 I now understand why I see ARC reviews a year after publication and why they don’t accept anything new!
