  • Talk Nerdy To Me: Jan’19 Wrap Up

Happy Weekend & Welcome to February! After dipping down to -32°F (-35°C) and up to +40°F (4°C) within the past two days, I’m ecstatic that Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow yesterday!! 🌷 Bring on an early spring! 🌷 But first… I need to wrap up January! I’m really happy with how much I accomplished last month, even with a slow reading start during the first week of the year. (A little perspective: I read 1 book in Jan’18 for a YTY comparison, and 3 Short-a-thon books in Dec’18 for a MTM comparison.)   Reading Challenges   🌸 Devour Your TBR: January Jam Jar 🌸 Hosted by Kathy @ Books and…

  • Mini Reviews: Summer Lovin’

The Distance Between Us By Kasie West Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed The Distance Between Us. First of all, this has ‘fanfic’ written all over it. As a massive Gilmore Girls fangirl myself, this actually made me happier rather than upset, so it was a complete guilty pleasure! Also, I just figured out gifs so here’s a ton to gush over. *Sheepishly grins from ear to ear*   Caymen (Rory) – is extremely close with her mom, but things have been stressful financially lately (always). She attends the local public school and has been taught that the rich are a certain breed you don’t want to get messed up with. She’s studious…

Alice in Zombieland White Rabbit Chronicles, Book 1 By Gena Showalter Released: 2013   She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever. If anyone had told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. • Mini Reviews: The Flamel Secrets

The Magician The Secrets of the Immortal of Nicholas Flamel, Book 2 By Michael Scott A fantastic sequel to The Alchemyst! It moved quicker and contained more “action” scenes. Since most of the characters were introduced in the previous book, there was more time for some character development. I’m looking forward to The Sorceress, next in the series, to develop Perenelle’s character… I think she could be my favorite! I’m still adjusting to a clash of myths/legends because I typically like stories that keep them categorically separate, but I am finding it an interesting read nonetheless. Audiobook Performance: ★★★★ The Sorceress The Secrets of the Immortal of Nicholas Flamel, Book…

  • Mini Reviews: Back to Hogwarts!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them By Newt Scamander I needed a little magic in my day… and this did the trick! I absolutely loved Eddie Redmayne’s narration as Newt Scamander in the updated version of Fantastic Beasts!! The sound effects were spot on, as well. The accompanying book was wonderful, and I really enjoyed the new ink illustrations by Tomic. There was a lot of subtle humor throughout that kept me entertained! Nifflers are still my favorite of course!! 😉 Audiobook Performance: ★★★★★ The Hogwarts Collection By J.K. Rowling I loved this Pottermore collection! It re-wet my appetite for the magic of the Wizarding World all over again…
